This famous book of facts and statistics started when the founder, Sir Hugh Beaver, got into an argument at a party about which bird in Europe is the fastest. . Unable to find any books to settle the issue, Beaver came up with the idea a while later to create one that could settle such arguments. He invited twins Norris and Ross McWhirter to compile a list of the world’s most interesting records and facts. Some 13 weeks after opening an office space in a converted gymnasium, the book was finished. In 1955, the book was published for the first time and became a bestseller. Today, Guinness receives over 50,000 applications from over 174 countries, of which 6000 get approved to be in the book.
Here is a list of some of the most bizarre records ever made:
Most Piercings:
Elaine Davidson has a total of 4,225 piercings on her body, though unofficial records recently put that number to be over 6,000 piercings.
Longest fingernails:
Lee Redmond, the female record-holder, has a thumb nail that is 2 feet, 11 inches long.
Melvin Boothe, male record-holder whose nails total to a length of 29 feet and 8 inches long.

Longest moustache:
Ram Singh Chauhan's moustache measures to be 14 feet long.
Stretchiest Skin:
Garry Turner can stretch the skin of his stomach to 15.875 cm (that's about half a foot!). His skin is like this due to a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Largest collection of rubber ducks:
Charlotte Lee has a total of 5,631 duckies. She displays all of them in a dedicated duck room.
